Bullets

It’s sometimes difficult to swallow that bands like Bullets from Birmingham got a single Girl On Page 3 in 1978 out while other better punk acts struggled for so long with nothing. To top it all, they resorted to that most base of rock’n’roll tricks of roping in some topless model to help flog the single. Grammar School Girls is the pick with singer Harry Lang’s hysterical vocal effort to be punky over a sub Stranglers cast-off riff. Terrible but strangely listenable to!

The only good thing is that Bullets weren’t given another chance and that was it but they managed to drum up some PR, no doubt because of the model involved. Alledgely The Sun was going to sue them over their use of the words ‘Page 3’ but relented. Trisha the model you can see in the picture is apparantly somewhere on the single.
There’s some live stuff over on Youtube from the famous Birmingham nightclub Barbarellas that has been posted which the video below comes from.
It’s as far removed from the perfect punk, post-punk avant-garde noise of The Prefects as it is the Spice Girls.
