Studio Sweethearts
Frustrated by lack of success, Slaughter & The Dogs had broken up leaving just Mike Rossi and Zip Bates. Recruiting Phil Rowland ex of Eater (who was also frustrated by the lack of success) and a young guitarist Billy Duffy (ex-Nosebleeds and later to figure in The Cult) they formed Studio Sweethearts (what a name!) and released an average sounding single I Believe / It Isn’t Me (DJM Records 1979).
However rather than being a supergroup, the Studio Sweetheart’s single got nowhere and venues were unprepared to book a band with no history or success. they were however prepared to book Slaughter & The Dogs and so the Sweethearts ended and a reformed Slaughter with Phil Rowland on drums and Wayne Barrett back on Vocals re-entered the fray. Billy Duffy however would have to wait a little till he hooked up wth Ian Astbury though ironically would play on Andy Blade’s (Eater) solo single and play with Lonesome No More.
