Well it’s sod’s law, isn’t it? Looking at the sleeve you’d be thinking mmmm some sort of power pop cum mod thing here. Wrong! This single by Lincolnshire band The Cigarettes is an absolute 24 carat punk classic. No wonder it’s on wants lists and fetches up to £100. Buy it, steal it, or club a record dealer to death for it (no don’t do that!), but listen to it. Fine melodic uptempo punk. They released other singles, but this is the one for you.

Formed in 1977, they did They’re Back Again, Here They Come / I’ve Forgot My Number / All We Want Is Your Money (Company Records 1979) and appeared on a Lincolnshire band compilation album. The first single sold 3000 records and was played by John Peel which resulted in The Cigarettes recording a session in January 1980 which featured.
