The Fakes

The Fakes were a Stirling punk band from 1979 featuring Johnny on Vocals, Mairi on Guitar, Jamzy on Bass, and Brian on drums. The single (which is in fact a 4 track ep) was engineered by John Brierely at Cargo who was to engineer Atmosphere by Joy Division that same year. The band ceased after Brian tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident.

Production is a very slow post punk dirge sang in broad Scottish accent over a backing track curiously reminiscent of The Banshees Mittageissen. The rest of the tracks are more uptempo but still have a claustrophobic and industrial feel about them matched by the singles cover.

Songs are 1 Production 2 Look-Out 3 Tony Blackburn (16 seconds worth) and 4 Sylvia Clarke
